Nature’s Nurturing Papas

Nature supports the concept of a nurturing Daddy with the amazing critter (actually a fish), the seahorse. Seahorse “couples” are affectionate, monogamous and dedicated to one another. The male seahorse carries the female’s eggs and actually gives birth, suffering no small amount of struggle in the process, just as female mammals do. Here is a link to a video showing the process from the London Zoo: You Tube Video of the Nurturing Papa Seahorse Giving Birth.

There’s even a children’s book celebrating the seahorse daddy’s dedication to his family: Mister Seahorse.

Human parents, both moms and dads, would do well to learn from these critters.
